Wireless InSite 3D prediction software from Remcom has been updated with propagation analysis for engineered electromagnetic surfaces (EES). The software allows the modeling of passive metasurfaces designed to optimize wireless communication coverage by manipulating how signals propagate through them.

A ray-optical EES scattering model has been integrated into Wireless InSite’s X3D Model, providing a uniform ray description of electromagnetic wave scattering by locally periodic metasurfaces. This enables ray-based EM propagation prediction of reflection, transmissions, and diffractions that do not obey conventional geometric constraints.

Other new features in the release aim to improve 5G and WiFi performance by increasing the accuracy of MIMO device design and assessment. These include support for multi-port S-parameters, receiver codebooks and extensions to MIMO spatial multiplexing, and direct import of multi-frequency antenna patterns to allow broadband or multi-band analysis.

With these combined improvements, Wireless InSite lets engineers more effectively characterize propagation channels for MIMO systems operating in modified RF environments for 5G, 6G, WiFi, and ultra-wideband (UWB), including indoor or outdoor use cases.
