MCUs integrate Bluetooth LE connectivity for OTA updates

Arm-based PIC32CX-BZ2 microcontrollers from Microchip ease wireless design challenges by providing built-in Bluetooth LE connectivity. The series, which includes both SoC devices and global regulatory-certified, RF-ready modules, also furnishes Zigbee stacks and Over the Air (OTA) update capabilities.

Powered by a 64-MHz Arm Cortex-M4F processor, the PIC32CX-BZ2 family offers a 12-bit ADC, multiple timer/counters, an on-board encryption engine, and a broad set of interfaces for touch, CAN, sensor, display, and other peripherals. Up to 1 Mbyte of flash memory supports large application codes, multiprotocol wireless stacks, and OTA updates. SoC devices are AEC-Q100 Grade 1 (125°C) qualified to further simplify wireless connectivity integration in tough environments.

Development is supported by Microchip’s MPLAB Harmony 32-bit embedded software development framework. MPLAB Code Configurator integration enables developers to quickly begin prototyping with the PIC32CX-BZ2 family using drag-and-drop auto code generation. MPLAB Harmony also includes numerous other tools and an ecosystem of debuggers, programmers, virtual sniffer, and compilers.
